Course Description:

This is a 1.5 hour online self-paced course for Early Intervention Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapy Assistants, Speech Language Pathologists, or other Early Intervention providers. It is an interview between 2 experienced EI practitioners on the role of the EI therapist in reflex integration and motor skill development through a parent coaching lens with the 0-3 population. A framework for assessment and observation is presented to help participants develop an understanding of how to differentiate if a child is unable or unwilling to complete a motor activity and a 3-step process to use for intervention to grade motor activities for best outcomes. 3 separate video examples from actual home visits are explored in this course to deepen the participant's observational skills. A rationale of selected interventions and discussion of occupation-based interventions that could be explored in the natural environment in subsequent sessions is also a focus.
